WCDP Election Central – Candidate Information
Martin Moore
NC Court of Appeals
Judge Seat 15
Candidate Statement:
I’m Martin Moore and I’m proud to be running for the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
Everyone across our state deserves judges who are committed to integrity, fairness, and equal justice for all. I believe that our Courts should reflect the people and values of North Carolina. Every person should feel confident that their judges will hear their case and rule on the merits, not focus on partisanship and extremist beliefs.
I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina School of Law and began my career as a public defender. I now run a mediation and appellate law practice.
I’m thrilled to support Commissioner Martin Moore in his campaign for a seat on the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Martin represents the future of a judiciary that works for all North Carolinians, and we’re going to work together to ensure that we win back courts over the next three election cycles. As a former public defender, Martin will bring a critical perspective to the Court of Appeals,” says North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Allison Riggs.
Importance of this Race:
The North Carolina Court of Appeals is currently dominated by Republicans by an 11 to 4 margin. If Martin Moore’s opponent wins, an even more Republican-dominated Appeals Court will grip our state’s higher court system. To move forward and make progress in North Carolina, we need to elect judges like Martin Moore to our courts.
Office Responsibilities:
- The NC Court of Appeals reviews the proceedings of trial courts for errors of law or legal procedure.
