WCDP Election Central – Candidate Information

Kamala Harris

US President

Kamala Harris - US Vice President

Candidate Statement:

Kamala Harris has spent her entire career fighting for progress. As the California Attorney General, she fought for civil rights and criminal justice reform. In the US Senate, she fought for healthcare access and voting rights. And in the White House, she’s been fighting to lower costs and protect abortion access. Now she is running for President to continue protecting our freedoms, delivering justice, and expanding opportunity so that every American can not just get by, but get ahead.

Tim Walz

US Vice President

Tim Walz - US Vice President

Candidate Statement:

As Minnesota’s 41st governor, Tim Walz provided universal free school meals for students, protected reproductive freedom, strengthened voting rights, cut taxes for the middle class, and expanded paid leave for Minnesota workers. Born in a small town in rural Nebraska, Tim’s parents instilled in him the values of public service, generosity toward your neighbors, and working for the common good. Those principles will continue to guide him as Vice President of the United States.

Importance of this Race:

Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are focused on an American future that includes all of us. Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans want to turn back the clock, restrict basic freedoms for many, and create an America that only works for a few. While Trump and MAGA extremists seek to destroy the American Dream, Harris and Walz are running to ensure we continue on the long path toward a more perfect union.

Office Responsibilities:

We must elect a Democratic President to set a forward-looking agenda on key issues like healthcare, climate change, and education, including:

  • Making the economy work for working folks, not just the wealthy and well connected.
  • Nominating judges to federal courts, including the Supreme Court, that represent all Americans, not just MAGA Republicans.
  • Supporting our democratic institutions, and protecting our freedoms.
  • Signing good legislation — and vetoing bad legislation — passed by Congress.
  • Leading the country responsibly during national emergencies and disasters.
  • Proposing and supporting healthcare reforms.
  • Implementing environmental protection policies.
  • Promoting policies to ensure equal rights and opportunities for all citizens.
  • Championing comprehensive immigration reform and border security.
  • Supporting workers’ rights and labor standards.
  • Promoting gun safety laws.
  • Enforcing civil rights and justice for all.
