WCDP Election Central – Candidate Information

Blair Williams

NC District Court Judge
District 10D Seat 05

Blair Williams - NC District Court Judge District 10D Seat 05

Candidate Statement:

Most recently as the elected Clerk of Court, I hire and manage the team that supports the Wake County Judges in the courtroom. This gives me a unique prospective of how Judges interact with my staff as well as the public, and provides a major motivator for seeking this position. Prior to my election to Clerk in 2018, I presided over tens of thousands of cases that provide a transparent public record of my judicial temperament. The best compliment received was “although that outcome was not in my favor I appreciate how you conducted the trial.” Similar compliments that I have received are the standards I bring to the bench.

Importance of this Race:

Republicans have been packing our judicial system for years and trampling on individual rights and fair application of justice. We need to elect good, strong, and fair-minded Democrats to the Superior Courts to protect our civil and individual rights.

Office Responsibilities:

  • North Carolina District Courts hear cases involving civil, criminal, juvenile, and magistrate matters.
  • District Courts are divided into 43 districts across the state and sit in the county seat of each county.
  • They may also preside in certain other cities and towns specifically authorized by the General Assembly and are on the front line of justice for the citizens of NC.
