Meeting Support Information

All Wake County CEC members are asked to attend this meeting to discuss and vote on important business for WCDP. CEC stands for County Executive Committee. The CEC is the governing body for the county Democratic Party.

Who’s on the CEC?

The CEC is comprised of

  • Chairs and Vice Chairs of each of the organized precincts in Wake County
  • Elected members of the county’s Executive Council
  • Representatives of the county chapters of state-wide auxiliaries
  • Members of the county’s delegation to the State Executive Committee
  • Officers of Congressional District executive committees (residing in the district)
  • The county party attorney (if the county has one and they live in the district)
  • Elected officials at any level of Wake County governance – partisan or non-partisan – who are Democrats (non-quorum counting)

Meeting Registration

Pre-registration is REQUIRED

  • Voting members and observers must complete the registration form by 11:59pm Monday, August 19th
  • There will be no exceptions
  • If you are a CEC member but cannot attend, please send a proxy. Both you and your proxy must register by the above deadline.

Special rules are chosen on a meeting-by-meeting basis. The CEC will discuss and adopt the rules as they see fit for use during the meeting.

Special Elections

Third Vice Chair Election

We need to elect a new Third VC to fill a vacancy. Candidates will get two (2) minutes total for remarks at the CEC meeting including any nominating remarks provided by other people.

Candidates and nominators wishing to attend and/or speak at the CEC meeting are required to pre-register by 11:59 on August 19.

State Executive Committee (SEC) Elections

We need to elect two (2) Female/Non-binary and three (3) Male/Non-binary members to the SEC to fill vacancies. Candidates may come from the CEC floor. Candidates will get one (1) minute total for remarks at the CEC meeting including any nominating remarks provided by other people.

Candidates and nominators wishing to attend and/or speak at the CEC meeting are required to pre-register by 11:59 on August 19.

Regional Vice Chair Elections for the New Regional Splits 

Precinct chairs and vice chairs, or their proxies, residing with specific regions will elect a new Regional Vice Chair for their region. The Wake CEC voted on May 01, 2024 to split the Raleigh and Wake Regions into two parts. The State Executive Committee voted in favor of the change to WCDP’s Alternative Plan of Organization on June 01, 2024.

Candidates will get two (2) minutes total for remarks at the CEC meeting including any nominating remarks provided by other people.

  • Northern Wake Region (WCDP Areas: Lakes, Northeast Wake, East Wake, and Knightdale)
  • Southern Wake Region (WCDP Areas: Holly Springs, Southern Springs, and Garner )
  • Northern Raleigh Region (WCDP Areas: Capital Forest, Falls River, Glenwood, Midtown, North Hills, Umstead Raleigh)
  • Southern Raleigh Region (WCDP Areas: Centennial, Downtown North, East Raleigh, and
    Southeast Raleigh)
